Supports one full-time undergraduate student at the junior or senior level and one graduate student for two semesters. The recipient must be enrolled in Spanish or Portuguese degree programs at the School of International Letters and Cultures.
Quino E. Martinez was an ASU Spanish professor (1957–1988), war hero and first-generation college student who benefited from the GI Bill when pursuing his studies. Mary Martinez supported his work and contributed to the Hispanic community through teaching. This scholarship honors their legacy by providing substantial financial assistance to students pursuing degrees in Spanish or Portuguese.
Preference is given to on-campus or online students from Arizona, New Mexico, Texas or Utah.

Note: This scholarship will be disbursed over two semesters in the academic year. The total award is for $2,300–$2,500. A thank you note to the Martinez family with a student photo included is required of the scholarship recipient within one month of being notified of the award.
