LIA 101 Learning Assistants Program

Thank you for your interest in being a LIA 101 Learning Assistant for The College. To be considered, please complete this application and answer questions in a thoughtful, thorough manner. Applications must be completed and submitted by: Friday, February 16, 2024 at 4:00 pm.

Qualifications & Eligibility

• 2.75 minimum grade point average at Arizona State University

• Good standing with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities

• Must have a declared major in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the time of application

• 24 credit hours completed at ASU by end of Spring 2024

Desired Qualifications

• Involvement in co-curricular and/or extra-curricular activities

• Prior leadership/teaching/mentoring experience

• Experience speaking or presenting to an audience

If I accept an offer to be a LIA 101 Learning Assistant, I agree to:

  • Attend Learning Assistant Orientation on Monday April 8th from 10:00 am - 11:00 am
  • Attend mandatory training workshops held on Monday, August 19 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm 
  • Enroll and attend LIA 394 Learning Assistant Seminar on either Wednesdays 3:50 - 4:50 pm or Thursdays 9:00 am-10:15 am.

I understand that I must be in good standing with the ASU Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities and agree to release of my records from that office.

I understand that all offers to be a Learning Assistant are conditional and depend on the final number of sections of LIA 101 scheduled for the Fall 2024 semester as well as grade and conduct checks.

I understand that the information provided in this application will be used to consider eligibility for participation in the Learning Assistant Program, and I certify that this information is true, complete, and accurate to the best of my knowledge. In addition, I hereby authorize ASU to release to The College staff, any academic, financial, or other information that is relevant to this application as long as such records are used only in connection with the selection process. Further, I give permission to contact the ASU faculty/staff reference.
